My legal birthday is coming up!

I am so excited to turn 18, but there are also a lot of responsibilities that come with it. For example, dealing with insurance, service companies, personal finances, etc. And it is just coincidence that I am now also moving out to live at school dorms.  I don’t usually do much celebration for my birthday because my birthday is always the week before school exams and exam preparation always gets so crazy I could not care less about my birthday. It is the week everyone gets stressed out and cram study…including me. But this year I am making an exception. I am going to plan a birthday party…one week early!

The party will be a birthday and goodbye party, since I am also leaving my current school for the Ontario Science Centre Science School. I usually talk to my friends at school in the midst of travelling between classes or extracurriculars at lunch, so it will nice to finally get everyone together and chat. I will keep you guys updated with pictures later! As well as updates about Miss Teen Ontario-Wordl 2012!

Happy holidays everyone!

The winter break is approaching and it is time to wrap up all the shopping errands! What I like most about this time of the year is the generosity from the community. For the Salvation Army food drive, my school contributed more than 6000 food items! Good job NCIVS!

To wrap up the last week before winter holidays, my school will be having a holiday themed talent show. I am currently busy with rehearsals everyday. My first act is a solo dance piece to a variation of Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutracker Ballet. My second act is with the dance team, where I will be dressed up as Santa Claus and dancing hip hop! I am so excited and I can’t wait to show you pictures and videos after!

As the weather is getting colder and snow is beginning to fall, please be careful on the roads when driving. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday!

It’s that time of the year again – university applications! Everyone’s busy and stressed out around December, as applications are due early January. Choices, choices, choices!

It is a challenge to decide on a university and major because you have to plan out your life at age 17. At 17 years of age, you have to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. After much thought, I have finally decided that I want to major in international relations for a career that could give me opportunity to travel. My background of studying 4 languages can be handy, and I have great communication skills. I will be very busy this month. On top of university applications, there are also a lot of major projects and tests coming up at school, as the winter break is getting closer. Next weekend, I also have my ACT exam.

I saved the best update for last…it’s holiday shopping season!

Can you believe that school is back and summer is over!? Summertime always flies by the fastest! Here are some updates from my senior year of high school!

This semester, my life is filled with different languages and cultures! At school, I have English, French, and Spanish class. And at home I speak Chinese Mandarin. The 4th course of my semester is math – the only class that doesn’t contain grammar rules for a change! So far, my semester has been going pretty well. On top of school tests, I have also been doing my SAT/ACT tests. Busy busy busy!

A very common question I get is” “What are you going to be/study Alice?” And I always give everyone the same answer: “I don’t know.” So many things interest me, yet, there is not one thing that grabs my attention more than others. At school, there isn’t a subject I particularly excel in, and my hobbies are too diverse to be turned into a career. As a generic route, I would like to purse a career that provides service to others.

No matter what career I end up picking, I am glad I have a few more months to think. For now, I am just focusing on my university applications. Last week, I applied to early acceptance at Harvard! I will keep you guys updated! :D
